How I dye my hair at home

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share with you how I keep my hair vibrant looking and moisturized, and how I keep it that way while dyeing my hair at home!

Keratin Color at CVS

First, I headed to my local CVS to pick up the Schwarzkopf® Keratin Color + Moisture in Dark Brown. Color & Moisture was specially designed for women of color and to complement all hair textures and skin tones. My hair is naturally very dark brown, but I was hoping this color would make my hair more vibrant than usual.

First, I put on the gloves that are located on the instructions and covered my hair with an old towel. I also wore an old tank top that I didn’t care if it got a little messy.

Next, I applied the Pre-Color Serum on the ends of my hair. I left this on while I mixed the Color Creme tube into the applicator bottle.

There are multiple ways to apply the dye, and I followed the instructions to do the full head application. I used the entire mixture, strand by strand, on all of my hair. This process took about 3 minutes, and I made sure to go over my hair layer by layer, so I got every strand of hair.

I left the dye on my hair for about 40 minutes. Next, I applied warm water and rinsed all the dye out of my hair. The instructions said to rinse thoroughly until the water was clear.

Afterward, I applied the K-Bond Plex Conditioner through my hair and rinsed it after about 2 minutes.

Viola! My hair is feeling super soft and it looks amazing! I was really impressed on how well the Keratin Color + Moisture color came out on my hair, especially since my hair is naturally so dark.
